Overview (Nimalung Festival)
Nimalung Tshechu Festival is performed in Bumthang at Nimalung Lhakhang. The tshechu is held once in a year in the 5th month of the Bhutanese calendar. It is a religious and cultural festival like many other tshechus in Bhutan. This festival is a vibrant display of traditional masked performance, rituals, religious dances and common celebration which dispatches the teaching of Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava). Moreover, it holds immense significance for local and offers a unique opportunity for visitors to witness or experience Bhutanese Culture.

The banner of Guru Rinpoche unwinding on the wall where it is considered as most auspicious ceremony. Witnessing of Thongdrel is believed to be washed away one’s sins and bestow blessings.
