Ura Yakchoe is a beautiful summer festival conducted in the valley of Ura at Bumthang. Yakchoe literally means Yak offering.It is likely that the festival had animalistic origins before it was turned into a Buddhist ceremony. The mask and folk dances are performed during festival and also, sacred relic is put on display so that people can receive blessings from it. Bhutanese cultural heritage, renowned for its rich tapestry of traditional dances, religious rituals, and colorful masked performances are held. The festival is always held between the 12th and 16th days of the third Bhutanese lunar month. Events combine spiritual practice, religious worship, cultural celebration, social gatherings, and a respite from the backbreaking work on the farms.
