Khoma

Khoma is a small village in Bhutan’s Lhuentse District, renowned for its intricate traditional weaving, especially the production of Kishuthara, a highly prized silk textile. The village is known for its skilled weavers, mostly women, who create elaborate, handwoven patterns that are used to make the traditional kira worn by Bhutanese women. The labor-intensive process can take months to complete, making Kishuthara textiles both valuable and culturally significant. Surrounded by scenic hills and terraced fields, Khoma offers visitors a unique glimpse into Bhutan’s rural life and its rich tradition of textile craftsmanship.
